As of this day, I am 32 years of age, possess a Diploma in Investment, and has more than 10 years of experience trading financial market instruments such as futures indices, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and agricultural commodities, FX, and equities. Although I started my first job in the financial sector at the age of 16, where I was working as a marketing executive in a brokerage house, I was only able to pursue this career on a part time basis for several big names OTC FX brokers, due to my academia that most financial institutions and banks needed. Thereafter, I took on a diverse career path while continuing to pursue an opportunity to join a financial institution.

I was in electrical engineering, avionics and scrap metal dealing thereafter, while trading on my own. Looking back now, I am still startled by my passion for this market, you can call me crazy, but my keen interest to be a dealer, broker, fund manager, trader or advisor only came true in 2008.

In 2008, I think it was either a short squeeze in manpower or my hiring manager was touched by my determination, I was being engaged as a junior trader by an exempt fund manager in Singapore. It was a dream come true to know that I had the opportunity to be trading on an institutional desk. I traded markets like HSI, Nikkei 225, HSCEI, Aud/Usd, Eur/Usd, Usd/Cad, Gbp/Usd and Usd/Jpy. It was a room full of traders and I could trade through Bloomberg and Reuters, comparing the trading environment and the hardware with my own room’s, it was truly exciting. This excitement carried on till the end of the year, where news came that the company had to end its operation, due to the need to repatriate funds to shareholders. Though the experience was short-lived, but it was the best career experience I had ever had, as I discovered that there was so much advantage the institutional trader has over the home trader, and it got me to think twice about going back into retail trading, but I got back on it eventually.

In 2009, a colleague asked if I was keen to join him in a new venture, and that was to offer OTC FX trading to retail customers, as he was considering to establish his presence in East Asia. Thereafter, we travelled around parts of East Asia recruiting traders and training customers how to trade. This lasted till end of 2009, where I decided to be back home for the family, and he decided to move on to China.

Today, I am a trader and an independent consultant. Through a consultative approach, I work together with my clients to help them enhance their competencies in investing, risk management, meeting objectives, and contingencies planning.
